The Borough of Queens is Brooklyn's Neighbor

New York City is made up of five boroughs and this confuses a lot of people as the word is not used often in other parts of the country. In most parts of the country these are called counties. It is that simple aren't you glad you know that now?

The five boroughs are Brooklyn which is really Kings county, Queens which is Queens county, Staten Island is called Richmond County Manhattan is called New York County and the Bronx which is called Bronx County. Now that we have that out of the way let me explain something about Queens. If you flew into either NYC airport JFK or LaGuardia you landed in Queens County.

This Borough was the Vinny From Brooklyn Home to the 1939 Worlds fair among others and has some remnants of it in Flushing Meadow Park.  It is also the Home to the New York Mets who play not to far from LaGuardia airport. That is why when you see the games on TV you see and hear the planes flying in for a landing or taking off.

Queens is also known for its horse racing track Aqueduct or as the locals call it "The Big A". This is located near JFK airport. Speaking of the airports be sure to see the transportation pages if you are flying into the city. It offers some time saving tips and advice on how to best get around the city.

You can also get great pictures of sunsets in Queens. You can take a look at the video I made of the sun setting over Brooklyn.
