Time to Take a Break From Fatty Foods
Last week I went on vacation and when I got back home and looked at the pictures I was amazed at how fat I got lately. Just look at that picture, it looks like my belly is on the railing and is holding me up.
I need to change my weight as this cannot be healthy. I am starting out at 236 pounds that is way to heavy for my 5′ 10″ (I think) frame.
So my plan is to start using the elliptical daily and changing my eating habits which basically sucked. I don’t see myself joining a gym because I would rather workout at home and not be bothered with others sweating all over the machines I want to use. I don’t have the time to travel back and forth to a gym anyway.
My biggest challenge is breakfast which I usually skip because I am working too hard on the computer. That has to change. I will probably just have a bowl of cereal in the morning. Maybe I will buy some slim fast shakes on days I don’t feel like cereal.
Willpower is tough and my hardest thing is skipping my nightly ice cream. I was eating a quart of ice cream a night, something over 1000 calories a night can’t be good. Of course living in a city that has a million good places to eat is going to be tough but by eating smarter and only having binges on occasion I should be able to get slimmer.
My friend Sharon from Big CityVegan has given me a few healthy recipes that I will try. While I have no plans on going Vegan I am sure switching out some meals to vegan can’t hurt. I am open to more suggestions if you want to chime in feel free to do so.

Congratulations, Vinny, on your new journey! It will inspire many others to follow in your path, I am sure. As you eat in the early evening hours, not too late, you will find that you will be hungry at breakfast time. I also have the same issues with breakfast, so I mix it up, and will sometimes eat “non-breakfast” items, such as leftover salmon from dinner, with sliced tomatoes. That’s a very satisfying and filling meal yet not fattening. It keeps me going well into lunch time. Experiment with different things you like, that are whole foods, non-processed. Also, I found that the small ice cream bars or the chocolate fudge sticks which are pretty low in calories anyway, are a great substitute for the quart of ice cream, every now and then.
Thanks Linda
I have lost about 7 or 8 pounds since I posted this. I have been mixing up breakfast and lunch a bit just like you and I bought small ice cream bars too.
